The creative process for this project began with extensive research into Trinh Cong Son’s life, music, and his upbringing in Hue, aiming to capture his essence without directly using his face or name.

The t-shirt motifs were inspired by his powerful lyrics and unique typography, which reflect the emotional depth and cultural significance of his work. The color palette, consisting of black, gray, and white, was intentionally chosen to evoke a retro aesthetic, while textures like grain, halftone, and ripped paper were added to emulate the feeling of old newspapers, infusing the designs with a nostalgic ambiance. The bitmap texture became the core visual motif, seamlessly integrated into both the t-shirt designs and the website, creating a cohesive visual experience that ties the collection together. This thoughtful integration of Trinh Cong Son’s artistic legacy and visual elements honors his profound influence on Vietnamese music and culture.
